Just a short drive from the pristine shorelines of Door County is where our master cheesemaker handcrafts fresh cheese daily. Renard’s Cheese stores in Sturgeon Bay and Algoma feature a wide variety of artisan cheese, our popular and tasty cheese curds, and specialty foods from throughout the Door County area. Complimentary cheese and wine tastings are offered 7 days a week. Local cheese lovers and travelers in search of authentic, handcrafted Wisconsin cheese will be delighted with the Renard’s Artisan Cheese experience.
We are fortunate to be surrounded by the beauty of Door County and are mindful of its well-being during the cheesemaking process. Our sustainable practices include:
~ The cream that separates is transported to a local dairy to produce butter.
~ The whey is sent to a whey processing plant. Some of the end products from the whey are protein snacks, protein drinks, and high-grade animal feed, among others.
~ The water that is generated during the cheesemaking process is delivered back into the environment, enriching the soil for farmland in a safe and effective way.
A trip to Door County wouldn’t be complete without experiencing Renard’s Rosewood Dairy in Algoma – the first and only cheese factory tour in the area. Led by our friendly and knowledgeable staff, visitors will enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the art and science of cheesemaking.
