Cheddar – 2 Year

Our 2-Year Cheddar is one of our most popular cheeses. Its slightly sharp flavor makes it great for sandwiches or as the key ingredient in homemade macaroni and cheese. This cheese offers a sharp flavor, a creamy yet firm texture, and a heightened aroma, providing a powerful and satisfying taste experience.

Pairings and Complementary Flavors

Cocktails: Old Fashioned, Manhattan, or Rob Roy. The smooth and complex flavors of these cocktails provide a complementary flavor and a delightful contrast to the sharpness of the Cheddar.

Wine: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, or Port. The peppered flavor and touch of smokiness combined with the fruity makeup of these wines will mingle nicely and provide a lovely contrast to the tangy Cheddar. The richness of a full-bodied, oaky chardonnay will complement the cheese’s depth of flavor.

Beer: Belgian Stout or Amber Ale. These beers, with their rich malt character (often featuring toffee, caramel, and fruit notes), are a perfect match for the complexity of Renard’s Artisan Cheese 2-Year Aged cheddar.

Accompaniments: Fruits such as Bartlett or Bosc pears, Granny Smith apples, red grapes, and apricots add natural sweetness and refreshing acidity to contrast pleasantly. Fig preserves or honey will complement the complexity of the cheese. Cured meats or pickles add depth, highlighting the Cheddar’s bold and savory taste.

Nuts: Walnuts, pecans, almonds, and pistachios contribute a crunchy texture and a smooth, nutty flavor to the palate.

Suggested uses:

  • Excellent for melting for use in dips, sauces, casseroles, and soups. Its intense flavor will elevate any dish that calls for a rich taste.
  • Perfect on a cheeseboard and sure to please a crowd
  • Grate atop cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, asparagus, potato gratin, quiche, frittatas, and savory bread puddings
  • Elevate wraps, sandwiches, burgers, tacos, and quesadillas
  • Use in mac and cheese to create a more robust and sophisticated flavor profile
